Honkai Star Rail is the supposed sequel of Honkai Impact 3 which is going to be a new mobile game and it clearly implies that Honkai Impact doesn't have any plans of finishing at any point in the near future.
However, miHoYo has not made any official announcement regarding this new Honkai Impact title, yet leakers have revealed new data about this supposedly upcoming Honkai Star Rail.
A new trademark for Honkai Star Rail by miHoYo was first found on 21 September and it was revealed that miHoYo filed the trademark for Honkai: Star Rail in Japan back on 23 August, however, it was made public on September 21.

miHoYo has finally made the official announcement regarding the new Honkai Impact title, along with its close beta date.
Honkai Star Rail Closed Beta
On October 5, miHoYo announced that Honkai Star Rail closed beta sign-up event will begin on October 8th, and players will get to explore the world of Starward.
Moreover, there are high chances that players will get to openly share their content and impressions as miHoYo has followed the same pattern with each pre-release Beta Test for Genshin Impact.

On 22 September, Honkai Star Rail gameplay, artwork, and a few characters have been leaked, revealing more data, and giving more fuel to the rumors about Honkai Impact 3 sequel - Honkai Star Rail.

Earlier fans were taking guesses that Honkai Impact 4 Galaxy and Honkai Satr Rail are the same game, yet when miHoYo opened explicit Weibo accounts for both Honkai 4 Galaxy and Honkai Star Rail, and different trademarks for both the games were found, fans got the confirmation that these two are different games.
Moreover, the Honkai Star Rail client was also uploaded publicly and @Taishakurev on Twitter revealed that the client uploaded by miHoYo was a mistake.

A: MiHoYo uploaded the client (mistake) and everything it's spread around.
However, a few players were quick enough to grab the opportunity and datamine story-related text, gameplay, artwork, and characters before the Honkai Star Rail client was taken down.
Veterans of Honaki Impact would be able to recognize a few characters like Murata Himeko, and Seele that were leaked and to fans' joy, a dead Honkai Impact character also appears in Honkai Star Rail.
So it seems like miHoYo will follow up on its usual trend of reusing the past characters or it is likewise possible that Honkai Star Rail will be a parallel universe.

A few fans additionally saw and brought the fact into attention that parallel world Himeko was present in the Alien Space manga as well. So it seems as though Honkai Star Rail is indeed set in a parallel universe.
