From a former nightskin assassin to a ghoul mechanic, Fallout: New Vegas is recognized for its eclectic ensemble of characters. Despite the fact that New Vegas is more than a decade old, it is regarded as one of the series' best games because of its compelling characters, storyline, and multiple quest routes.

It offers a rich and very flexible character creation system, as well as a number of well-designed questlines in which the player's choices have a significant impact.

As a result of these factors, the game has a high replay value and fans are eagerly awaiting a sequel or remake of this gaming classic.

Since the release of the original game in 2010, Fallout: New Vegas 2 has been speculated to be in development. There are all the possibilities that the upcoming Fallout New Vegas 2 is a direct sequel to the events of the first game, yet it is likewise possible that it would be a spiritual successor to another spin-off or third-party Fallout game.

The rumors of Fallout New Vegas 2 being in development has once again caught the fire because of a known industry insider who suggests that the Fallout New Vegas 2 is in early talks at Microsoft.

Recently, on Feb 23rd, VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb said on his paid Giantbomb podcast, Grubbsnax that given that Obsidian is under the same roof as license holder Bethesda, it may make a sequel to the classic RPG, Fallout New Vegas.

In his podcast, the journalist said, “This is very early, but people have begun to have talks and say these words in sentences, and these words are ‘Obsidian’ and ‘New Vegas 2’. We’re talking years and years away. There’s at least an interest and conversations happening about making something like that actually a reality.”

This is definitely not the first time that rumor mills have hinted at New Vegas 2 development as back in Jan 21, Tyler McVicker, a video game leaker known for his Valve leaks, said that a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas was in the works and will be released in the second part of the decade.

In response to one skeptic question, McVicker stated that Obsidian Entertainment "likely won't have anything to do with" Fallout: New Vegas 2 development.

While this has yet to be confirmed, it has piqued the interest of fans and created a slew of questions. If a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas was to continue the story of the Mojave Wasteland or any of the surrounding places, it would have to deal with numerous major unresolved storylines.

Given the intriguing plot of the upcoming Fallout: New Vegas 2, it wouldn't be surprising if the creators decided to bring the Fallout: New Vegas sequel.

Reacting to something similar, Grubb said, “A lot of people at Microsoft think that this could work and there’s a lot of interest to make it happen.”

Moreover, Feargus Urquhart, the CEO of Obsidian, stated in 2013 that he wanted to make a sequel to New Vegas and discussed some of his ideas in the past, so clearly it is not impossible.

If Fallout: New Vegas 2 is indeed in development, there are a slew of unanswered questions. For example, it's unclear whether the game will be handed off to a third-party developer or if Bethesda Game Studios will take on the project this time.

It's also unclear whether New Vegas 2 will employ the Fallout 4 engine and assets, as the original New Vegas did with the Fallout 3 engine and many of the assets.

If we go by the claims of McVicker (New Vegas 2 will be released in the second part of the decade) and Jeff Grubb (Fallout New Vegas 2 is in early talks), the prediction that Fallout: New Vegas 2 will be released in the 2020s is unlikely, especially if a third-party developer isn't engaged.

For the time being, Fallout fans will have to wait for Bethesda's confirmation.
