New PlayStation Plus service (Project Spartacus) - tiers, prices, release date, games, more

All new PlayStation Plus has been announced by Sony, and it is none other than the highly anticipated - Project Spartacus.

Brand new PlayStation Plus service announced by Sony

Usually, Sony's free PlayStation Plus games get all the attention from the users yet the PS Now also offers significant value for PS4 and PS5 gamers. A set of new games gets added to the PlayStation Now service each month and then Sony rarely removes any game from it.

However, the rumors of Sony planning to launch a new service similar to Xbox Game Pass that will probably offer more extensive gaming titles as compared to both PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus games have been swirling in for quite some time now.

Xbox Game Pass was introduced by Microsoft long ago, and the organization has been very clear with its idea and ambition to develop the Xbox Game Pass library by adding new titles to the subscription service every now and then.

And hence, it was suggested by the industry insiders and leakers that Sony is planning to launch its own Game Pass service for PS5 that was codenamed "Project Spartacus".

Recently it was revealed by known industry insiders that Sony will announce its new project today, and that is the case as Sony has announced its all-new PlayStation Plus Service which will combine both PS Plus and PlayStation Now service.

Earlier there were different questions surrounding the new PlayStation Plus service, however, one major question that the fans had in their mind was "will PlayStation Spartacus service replace PS Plus?"

The official announcement read, "When the new PlayStation Plus service launches, PlayStation Now will transition into the new PlayStation Plus offering and will no longer be available as a standalone service. PlayStation Now customers will migrate over to PlayStation Plus Premium with no increase to their current subscription fees at launch."

In the announcement, Jim Ryan, President & CEO, Sony Interactive Entertainment said, " For markets without cloud streaming, PlayStation Plus Deluxe will be offered at a lower price compared to Premium, and includes a catalog of beloved classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP generations to download and play, along with time-limited game trials."
