Fortnite’s Blitz Royale: A Fast-Paced New Game Mode
For those who don't know, Epic Games is set to launch Blitz Royale, a fast-paced Fortnite mode with up to 32 players per match. Coming with the June 18 v36.10 update, this rogue-like mode is optimized for mobile devices and supports cross-play on all platforms.
Blitz Royale echoes the old Chapter 1 Blitz mode, which sped up gameplay by forcing players to loot and move quickly due to fast-moving storms. However, Blitz Royale introduces smaller lobby sizes and will have its own dedicated map.
Epic Games has confirmed that Blitz Royale will be a permanent game mode, not a limited-time event.
No Ranked Mode at Fortnite’s Blitz Royale Launch
Unlike many Fortnite royale modes, Blitz Royale won’t launch with a ranked variant. This follows Epic’s recent shutdown of the ranked Fortnite OG Zero Build mode due to matchmaking issues.
By launching only a single version, Epic may be aiming to avoid similar problems and keep the player base healthy.
Alongside Blitz Royale, Epic Games will also launch LEGO Fortnite Expeditions on June 18. This new LEGO-themed experience will feature three hero classes and tie into Chapter 6 Season 3’s superhero theme.
