Valorant 5.03 patch notes revealed

One of the most popular games in its genre in the entire world is Riot Games' free-to-play first-person shooter called Valorant. This game has captured the hearts of players all across the world thanks to its distinct gameplay aesthetic and the fresh material that the creators are continually adding.

Episode 5 Act 1 of Valorant, which was only recently released, is the most recent update. The new Pearl map and Prelude to Chaos skin bundle were included in this updated version of the game. The Ranks were also changed to Reset. In the space between Diamond and Immortal, a new Rank Ascendant was added. However, if we are discussing agent balances, then we got nothing.

To be fair, agents like Phoenix, Yoru, and KAY/O did receive some small adjustments with the release of the Valo 5.01 upgrade, after Ep 5 Act 1. Now, we are moving toward our next patch, which is preparing to provide some significant modifications to the game's system and agent capabilities.

Now, we have the next Valorant 5.03 patch, however, we already knew about these upcoming changes in the game via the PBE server. As revealed in the PBE server of Valorant, where the latest update has been shared before the official release mainly to bug test, we have Neon and Jett Buffs along with Chamber Changes, and system and gameplay fixes.

Let's dwell on the details below.

Valorant 5.03 Patch Notes

We've already seen a preview of what the Valorant 5.03 patch will bring, and it appears that there will be some minor changes to the game mechanics and Agents' abilities. Previously it was leaked that Valorant 5.03 patch will hit the PBE servers on July 22. However, the developers decided to delay the patch a bit due to the upgrade to Unreal Engine 4.26 and now that’s what the players will be playing on for 5.03 PBE.

In context with the delay, Riot stated, "We’re skipping our regular patch cadence this week to allow our engineers the time they need to upgrade our game engine. You can expect the next patch, Patch 5.03, to start shipping August 9."

The developers plan to introduce agent abilities and map adjustments, latency fixes, bug fixes, and more in the main game, according to the information that has been made public. It turns out that the popular agent Chamber will be severely nerfed in Valorant 5.03 patch. Neon and Jett will also have some small modifications made to their kit.

Now enough of talking, let's have a look at what the devs have to offer with Valorant 5.03 patch notes.

Valorant 5.03 Patch - Agent changes

As mentioned above, with Valorant 5.03 patch, Riot games are planning to change the Agent abilities. The official post for the Valorant patch 5.03 Agent bug fixes include changes for:

  • Neon
  • Jett
  • Chamber

Valorant 5.03 patch - Chamber Nerfs

This is one of those areas where the Valorant community has been pretty vocal. And it looks like after all this time, they would be getting their wish and Chamber might be getting nerfed with Valorant 5.03.

After considerable debate and criticism surrounding Chamber, this "overpowered" Agent will eventually experience a significant nerf in the 5.03 patch. His pick rate will be significantly impacted by adjustments to all four of his skills.

The developers stated, "As players in both ranked and pro play have mastered Chamber, his strengths have started to overshadow his weaknesses, making the counterplay to Rendezvous and his arsenal not as effective as we’d hoped. Chamber’s overall power has also felt outsized, and we believe that we can reduce his kit while still keeping him competitive with the rest of the roster."

  • Rendezvous (E)
  1. Base Cooldown increased 20s >>> 30s
  2. Recall Cooldown increased 20s >>> 30s
  3. Cooldown set to 45s whenever a Rendezvous anchor is destroyed
  4. Radius Size decreased 21m >>> 15m
    • Chamber’s Rendezvous is intended to be powerful at holding space, but the generous radius allowed him to take more space than intended. This change should require Chamber to exert more effort to access off-angles.
    • We hope that a harsher punishment for destroyed Rendezvous anchors and the reduced radius will demand Chamber mains to be more careful in their use. This change also brings the counterplay of Chamber’s destructible objects more in line with the behavior of other destructible objects in the game.
  • Trademark (C)
  1. Slow Duration decreased 9.5 >>> 6s
  • Tour De Force (X)
  1. Ultimate Points Required increased 7 >>> 8
  2. Slow Duration decreased 9.5 >>> 6s
  • Headhunter (Q)
  1. Bullet Cost increased 100 >>> 150
    • It’s important that Headhunter is a powerful sidearm for Chamber but at its current price point Chamber doesn’t have to engage in making difficult economic decisions as meaningfully as other Agents. This should most noticeably impact Chamber’s decision-making on pistol rounds and save rounds.

Valorant 5.03 patch - Agent mini fixes

Some other Agent-related mini bug fixes will also be there for Chamber, Neon, and Jett in the 5.03 patch. These VALORANT 5.03 Patch on Agent bug fixes are Ability Regional Damage Breakup.

The devs stated, "We're updating the ultimates for the following Agent so that they follow similar regional damage rules to our weapons—where hitting the head and legs of an enemy applies different damage multipliers. Intent is to reward precision and create intuitive consistency across damage in VALORANT."

They further added, "For Neon specifically, it also gives us more tuning levers for balancing her across different skill levels. This change should also add depth to the mastery needed when tracking while sprinting that her ult demands."

  • Neon
  1. Damage per shot reduced 22 >>> 18
  2. Killzone increased 15m >>> 20m
  3. Leg shot multiplier reduced 1.0 >>> 0.85
  4. Headshot multiplier increased 1 >>> 3
  • Chamber

Tour De Force (X) leg shot multiplier reduced 1.0 >>> 0.85

  • Jett

Bladestorm (X) leg shot multiplier reduced 1.0 >>> 0.85

Valorant 5.03 patch - Bug fixes

In addition to the changes in the agents' kit, devs have also listed some of the bug fixes coming with the Valo 5.03 patch. These bug fixes include Valorant 5.03 Agent bug fixes and Valorant 5.03 Gameplay System changes.

Valorant 5.03 Agent bug fixes:

  • Fixed an issue with Jett’s Tailwind where switching weapons in the middle of the dash would cause the weapon pull-out animation to take longer than desired.

Valorant 5.03 Gameplay System changes:

  • Added ability to change “Ghost” keybind outside of Custom Games
    • This option is listed under Settings >> Controls >> Actions
  • Fixed a bug where some Reyna/Killjoy HUD elements were still visible after enabling Hide User Interface.
  • Fixed a bug where defuse animation wouldn’t consistently play if the orb is tapped in rapid succession.

Well, it is quite clear that Chamber is leading the agent changes in Valorant 5.03 patch. But we can all agree that Chamber is now dominating his competitors based on the outcomes of the most recent Masters tournament held in Copenhagen.

Hence these new nerfs to reduce some of his potency is absolutely justified.
