League of Legends 12.22 patch notes

League of Legends is a multiplayer online game, but it isn't an MMO in the sense that it focuses on gameplay rather than an open world to explore. The title is a MOBA that can be challenging to get into for newbies, especially since it has been on the market for a long time, but it does not require a strong PC to play.

We recently received a significant LoL patch 12.21 update which included various changes in the main game, including major buffs and nerfs for several champions, as well as interesting gameplay adjustments.

Now while Riot continues to tinker with all of the major changes in LoL patch 12.22, the live game is indeed moving forward. After dealing with more than 10 champions in the previous update, the developer will now focus on the next season, which is LoL Season 13.

Even though the developers did not share any preview of the LoL Patch 12.22, they gave detailed patch notes on the official site of the game.

So let's get to know what has been revealed with regards to the League of Legends 12.22 patch, including changes, champions buffs and nerfs, new releases, and more.

Summoner's Rift and Howling Abyss (ARAM) have both undergone significant changes in this patch, therefore the notes will be divided into two sections, one for each mode. Check out our next post for LoL Howling Abyss (ARAM) changes in patch 12.22.

League of Legends 12.22 patch notes

Today on Nov 16, League of Legends Designers on the Summoner's Rift team's RiotRiru shared the LoL 12.22 patch notes and the Twitter account stated, "Chemtech Drake’s redemption arc, Feisty and adorable jungle companions, A LOT of Jungle updates, Groovy, out of this world skins. Welcome to Preseason 2023!"

The official blog post read, "The patch notes are here and there’s A LOT of them. We have Chemtech Drake’s redemption arc, a brand new Chemtech Rift, three new adorable jungle companions, seven new items, new ARAM balance changes, new… well you get the point."

As per the info revealed thus far, Cho'Gath, Nunu and Willump, Lillia, and more are the champions that will receive changes to their kits with the LoL 12.22 patch.

Not only the champions are receiving changes, but with LoL patch 12.22, we will also see the updated Chemtech Drake, Jungle Changes, Jungle Companions updates, Lane Gold and Experience Changes, New and Changed Items, Howling Abyss (ARAM) Changes and a lot more.

League of Legends patch 12.22 Champions buffs and nerfs

As mentioned above, a series of champions receive buffs and nerfs with the upcoming patch, and this time we also have a few champions leading the list of champion adjustments.

Now let's have a look at the champion buffs that will be seen in LoL patch 12.22.

LoL Patch 12.22 Champion changes:

One of the most important jobs in League of Legends is the jungler. It's a fairly distinctive role that emphasizes exploring the map, taking on monsters, and supporting your laners.

The majority of jungle champions are positively impacted by the adjustments, while some champions with additional smite-like abilities, such as Cho'Gath and Nunu and Willump, are severely impacted. Riot Games has so opted to improve its composition.

The Cho'Gath & Nunu buffs were just announced on Twitter by Riot August, the head League of Legends champion designer and the official post detailed Lillia buffs. The champions receiving LoL Patch 12.22 buffs are:

  • Cho’Gath
  1. R – Feast: Base damage to non-champs: 1000 ⇒ 1200
  • Nunu and Willump
  1. Q – Consume: Damage to non-champs: 340-980 ⇒ 400-1200
  • Lillia
  1. Base stats
    1. Now classified as a melee champion
    2. Base health: 625 ⇒ 605
    3. Health growth: 104 ⇒ 105
  2. Passive: Dream-Laden Bough - Healing vs Champions: 10.5-124.5 (based on level)(+18% AP) (Note: linear scaling) ⇒ 6-120 (based on level)(+18% AP) (Note: now uses stat growth multiplier)

Riot Games intends to significantly alter the champion meta as the game gradually reaches its pre-season period. Some of the key components of League of Legends Patch 12.22 include the buffs that will be granted to Cho'Gath and Nunu.

Cho'Gath's R ability won't have an impact on his early Jungle clear, but it will assist in capturing objectives, particularly the Rift Herald. Now Nunu's Q ability is typically maxed, and the additional 60 level 1 damage is enormous. Nunu should be able to gank even earlier thanks to a much quicker Jungle clear, which LoL patch 12.22 will address.

For the purpose of item and rune power, Rakan and Lillia have been regarded as ranged champions. As a result, popular items like Relic Shield and Demonic Embrace, used by each champion separately, were less effective despite having a shorter range.

With both champions now being categorized as melee champions in LoL version 12.22, that is altering. A minor defensive nerf is being applied to Lillia, but it is balanced by the opportunities these benefits give her.

LoL Patch 12.22 Champion Adjustments

Well, we don't have a long list of Champion adjustments in LoL patch 12.22 as only Rakan's kit has been adjusted along with several other items.

  • LoL Rakan adjustment
  1. Classified as a melee champion instead of a ranged champion now.

LEASHING RANGE UPDATES AND INDICATORS in Patch 12.22

  • Soft Resets:
  1. After losing all patience, instead of fully resetting, the monster will ‘soft reset’ for 6 seconds.
  2. While soft resetting, the monster will path towards its camp center, regenerate 6% of its max health per second, and will ignore attackers outside of its leash range. Attacking a monster while the attacker is within its leash range will end the soft reset and restore some patience.
  3. After these 6 seconds have passed without the monster being attacked, the monster will ‘hard reset’ and ignore all attackers, rapidly heal, and return to its original position.
  4. Soft vs Hard Reset Speed: Monsters will move more slowly while soft resetting, and faster once they hard reset
  5. Patience is Key: Monsters will not lose patience for 1.5 seconds after being attacked by a champion within the leash radius
  6. Patience Regeneration: Camps will now begin to regenerate lost patience after 2 seconds of being back within their leash range
  7. Small Monster Patience: Small Monsters will match the patience of their respective large monster as long as it is alive and within 700 range
