Ubisoft has faced several challenges while creating "Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora" within the established world of Pandora without replicating previous stories. To achieve this, they introduced new characters and strived to evoke a sense of belonging in the universe while offering a fresh experience.

Now, despite the pressure of the successful James Cameron films, the game received support from Cameron himself, providing the team with access to scripts from the upcoming movies, helping their development process.

Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora Devs Got Access To Next Flim Scripts

In an interview with ComicBook, Magnus Jensen, the CEO of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, talked about Ubisoft's collaboration with the Avatar trademark holders. This partnership provided exclusive access to scripts for the forthcoming Avatar films to the game's developers.

Jensen described this access as a means for the game to "cannibalize" scripted material from the movies and clarified that it was given to guarantee that the game development process could incorporate movie aspects seamlessly.

It was previously revealed that four more Avatar titles are in development after the release of Avatar: The Way of Water. Jensen emphasized how important it was to have exclusive access to scripts for upcoming Avatar movies. This precaution helps to ensure that any confusion won't arise during the development of their game, which is set in the same period as the movies, and that aspects that might diverge from the established canon narrative won't be included.

Jensen stated, "For us to be able to properly fit into the timeline—because we started work on this game before Avatar: The Way of Water was out—yeah, we had access to the script, not just for Avatar: The Way of Water but for some upcoming movies as well. Various amounts, of course."

He further added, “And there’s a couple of reasons for that. First, the most important reason is that, you know, we need to fit right in. We need to go there, we need to sort of gel and feel like it’s part of the same world. There’s a second very practical reason as well. As we pitch cool new set pieces and cool new story twists, or whatever, we don’t want to cannibalize on each other, as well.”

Well, this strategy makes perfect sense. By having insight into upcoming films, they avoided replicating or undermining future storylines. They aimed for an original and robust story that stands tall within the Avatar universe.

Well, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is expected to release on December 7, 2023, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, and PC, and we will then see what the game has in store for the fans and players.
