Following his success with Oppenheimer, Murphy's name has been associated with the role of MCU's Doctor Doom.

If this is true, Murphy has been a longtime fan favorite to play the iconic villain, so the Fantastic Four fans will undoubtedly approve. Moreover, when Murphy was asked about the prospect of playing Dr. Doom in a July interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, he replied that he would be pleased to read a script if one were given to him:
The famous star of Oppenheimer and Peaky Blinders remarked, "I mean, I'm always... Everything revolves around the script. So I'll read... I'll read any scripts that are sent to me. And you never know what you'll find... That's what I enjoy most about my job. I had no idea Chris [Nolan] would call me [in 2021] with [Oppenheimer]. You know, it just happens, and that's the beauty of this profession; it's so unpredictable and wild."
It seems Marvel Studios understands precisely how to meet fans' expectations by potentially casting Cillian Murphy as Dr. Doom in the yet-to-be-cast Fantastic Four movie.
Nevertheless, even if an offer is extended, there's no guarantee that the Irish actor would accept it, considering there are reportedly several other contenders.
According to earlier speculations, Josh Hartnett and Ryan Gosling were both considered for the role of Doom, and both actors are still reportedly in the discussion. Moreover, recently we learned that the studio may be considering Ralph Fiennes (In Bruges from Harry Potter) and Jason Clarke (Lawless from Oppenheimer). Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange in Rogue One) was supposedly offered the role, but he most likely turned it down if they are now considering Murphy.
Though it's unlikely that the team's primary villain would play a huge part in the reboot—in fact, he might simply appear in the post-credits scene—the antagonist could become the new villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly if the company chooses to move ahead from Kang. Moreover, according to a number of reliable sources, Doom will serve as the primary antagonist in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Marvel is rumored to reveal the full cast at once, and production is supposedly going to start a little earlier than anticipated.
