Samsung recently announced plans to integrate generative AI into their upcoming smartphones, suggesting that the Samsung Galaxy S24 could potentially become their new  'AI phone,' based on recent trademark filings.

These applications, spotted by Galaxy Club via SamMobile, were submitted by Samsung in both the EU and UK on November 24, seeking trademarks for 'AI Phone' and 'AI Smartphone.' With the anticipated launch of the Galaxy S24 series on January 17, it's plausible that these trademarks are connected to Samsung's upcoming flagship phones.

Following the earlier 'Samsung Glasses trademark application, the company took another step by registering not just one but two trademarks: 'AI Phone' and 'AI Smartphone.' Reports have hinted at Samsung's intent to be bringing generative AI to all Galaxy S24 models by the beginning of next year, however, it's unclear how the software will operate on the 2024 flagship series.

Although the trademarks 'AI phone' and 'AI smartphone' are quite broad, they indicate Samsung's firm commitment to enhancing their future devices, starting, it appears, with the Galaxy S24, which will be powered by AI technology.

On January 17, 2024, Samsung is anticipated to introduce its AI marketing and the next-generation Galaxy S24 line of smartphones. The registrations were discovered by GalaxyClub, which also notes that Samsung has applied for further trademarks on names and logos, such as Magic Pixel, Flex Magic, and Flex Magic Pixel, for its augmented reality items, TVs, and smartphone screens, with an emphasis on AR glasses.

Now for those who are curious, “how useful these AI-powered features will be in the real world,” the answer is jotted below.

Internally, the Galaxy S24 may have either Samsung's in-house Exynos 2400 or Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Both are capable of running on-device LLMs (Large Language Models) and executing Stable Diffusion smoothly. This implies that regardless of the specific Galaxy S24 model purchased, it will indeed be an AI-driven phone.

The Galaxy S24's camera will be intriguing to watch because of its AI features, which could result in far better nighttime shooting, 4K and 8K video recording capabilities, and Portrait mode effects. Furthermore, its generative AI engine can produce new graphics in response to straightforward instructions. Additionally, it can "reverse crop" images, allowing you to zoom out of them, or double the size of an image.

However, Samsung will need to develop compelling features around these capabilities within its Galaxy S24 series, aiming for functionalities that are genuinely impressive rather than just offering superficial entertainment.
