Only a few months ago, in January, was the last State of Play hosted. It was a sizable event that received positive reviews and featured some new content for titles like Until Dawn, Death Stranding 2, Stellar Blade, and others. Sony, though, appears to be preparing for the next State of Play event or PlayStation Showcase that will take place next month and might have Silent Hill 2 news.

According to reports from journalist Jeff Grubb, there's a new PlayStation-related event expected to happen in May. While details about the event's timing and content are scarce, Grubb hinted that it might include a presentation on Silent Hill 2. Additionally, Grubb continued, saying he thinks this will become more of a formal "PlayStation Showcase" event than a scaled-down version of the State of Play show.
It's unusual for major showcases to occur so closely together, but Jeff Grubb's recent comments suggest that Sony might be breaking that pattern. During a livestream, Grubb said, "I’ve heard that there will be a PlayStation ‘something’ – either a State of Play or a Showcase, next month in May, so this is probably going to be there."

The "this" he was alluding to is the remake of Silent Hill 2, which the ESRB recently rated M for Mature. However, Grubb further clarified on Twitter, saying that Silent Hill 2 will not be the exclusive focus of the prospective PlayStation Showcase or State of Play. He suggested that PlayStation fans can anticipate updates and trailers for other upcoming PS5 games slated for release in 2024 if the rumors prove accurate.
Well, since Sony last had an event of this kind in May 2023, it would generally make perfect sense for the next PlayStation Showcase to occur in May. Consequently, it appears that Sony may consider launching Showcase broadcasts in May, much as it did when E3 was still in existence.
Furthermore, the information revealed from the GameStop materials leak suggests that Silent Hill 2's remake is slated for a late 2024 release. If the rumored Showcase event does occur, it could provide official information about the game's release date along with new gameplay footage.
Well, even if this next PlayStation Showcase event in May 2024 report is true, such a confirmation likely won't come about for a few more weeks.
