A new teaser for Valorant Agent 25, currently codenamed Smokedancer, has been leaked and it seems to hint at their abilities and release date.

It has been several months since Valorant welcomed a new agent, but given Riot's history, it seems likely that more agents will soon join the fray. Also, a recent leak of a player card coming in Valo Episode 8 Act 1's Battlepass hints at the next agent - Valorant Agent 25, indicating that it's likely to be a controller.

Recent rumors indicate that Valorant will add a new Controller Agent in Episode 8 Act 2 who goes by the moniker "Smokedancer". It looks like this mysterious new character is going to have great graphics and hypnotizing pink smoke skills. Also, the term "Smokedancer" and the smoke theme suggest that they will probably wear a lavish, dancer-inspired outfit with vibrant pink accents.

Speculations additionally hint at potential origins tied to the same mysterious magic realm as Reyna, an existing Agent, or continuing the trend of characters with animal motifs seen in Viper, Astra, and Harbor.
Valorant Agent 25 Abilities
On December 25, a notable leaker, ValorLeaks, shared an image that purportedly teases Valorant Agent 25. Although the image is cryptic, it appears to suggest a link between the new agent's kit and butterflies or flying insects. The teaser showcases a cocoon and a butterfly coming out from it, hinting at potential Valorant Agent 25 abilities.
The leaked information also implies that the new agent, possibly codenamed “Smokedancer,” falls into the Controller category, joining the likes of Viper, Harbor, Brimstone, Astra, and Omen in shaping the smokes meta.
Although the exact names of the Valorant Agent 25 abilities are yet unknown, controllers often possess an ultimate, an area smoke ability, an information-gathering tool, and a unique smoke wall. Thus, the alleged abilities of Smokedancer may include:
- Using flashy pink-colored abilities within the smoke.
- Focusing on obscuring enemy vision and controlling space, typical for a Controller.
- The smoke potentially induces hypnotic and disorienting effects on caught opponents.
Expected Valorant Agent 25 Release Date
ValorLeaks suggests that the teaser for Valorant Agent 25 is a player card featured in Episode Eight, Act One’s battle pass, indicating a launch in Episode Eight, Act Two.
Act 1 of Episode 8 is scheduled to begin on January 9, 2024, and, similar to previous Acts, it is anticipated to last for around two months. This sequence suggests that Smokedancer is likely to debut alongside Episode 8 Act 2 on March 6, 2024.

The game's battle pass would not be the first to tease a VALORANT agent in this way. Riot teased Iso before his release in Act Three by including the Bulletproof player card in the Act's battle pass back in Episode Seven, Act Two. The previously described teaser for the upcoming agent may therefore refer to their ultimate ability.
The introduction of a new Controller agent aligns with the current double-controller meta in the game and fills the gap since Harbor's addition in late 2022. While the Duelist Iso arrived in October as the latest agent and Deadlock joined as a Sentinel in mid-2023 with patch 7.0, VALORANT seems poised to expand its agent roster.
