Over the weekend, Ubisoft released information about what will be included in Year 7, Season 3 of Rainbow Six Siege. The new season, dubbed Brutal Swarm, will introduce a new operator, a new map, and Phase 2 of the updated Reputation System.

According to Ubisoft, the start of the next season will be on Tuesday, September 6. This season brings with it another new Operator, as was originally promised. Grim, a native of Singapore is the Agent this time.

Along with the addition of this operator, Ubisoft is making significant adjustments to the recoil mechanism. In addition, a new secondary EMP impact grenade, a redesigned map-ban system, and the Stadium Map will all be part of the competitive map pool.

Additionally, the Siege devs elaborated on the modifications coming to the Brutal Swarm Season Test Server and the reasons why particular adjustments had to be made in the Designer's Notes published on August 22.

Here are the whole Rainbow Six Y7S3 patch notes, which include evaluations of pick rates and success of various Operators, recoil on various weapons for PC vs console, and gadget balance.

When discussing the Recoil changes, the devs remarked, "Due to the lack of recoil and recoil-controlling attachments, some weapons in the game are referred to as "laser beams." With the addition of the Shooting Range as a place to become used to the new recoil patterns, we are sure that this improvement will help pave the way for enhanced balance potential in the future."

Additionally, it was mentioned that the developers have examined each weapon separately in light of a variety of factors, including Rate of Fire, Damage per Second, and the operators who employ them. Therefore, weapons like the R4C, 416-C, UMP45, C1, or M12 that have strong and mild recoil patterns would maintain recoils that are extremely comparable.

Rainbow Six patch Y7S3 notes - Gadget Balancing

The creators made the following comment regarding Gadget balancing in R6 Y7S3: "The EMP Impact Grenade is designed to give attackers fresh windows of opportunity and to serve as a substitute for Thatcher. We are decreasing the grenade's non-lethal radius to lessen collateral damage."

EMP Grenade

  • Added EMP Impact Grenade as 3rd Gadget to the following Operators:
    • Blackbeard
    • Montagne
    • Dokkaebi
    • Nokk
    • Gridlock
    • Sledge
    • Lion
    • Osa

Note: The EMP Impact Grenade can disable electronics in an explosion range of 1.8 meters for 9 seconds, we’re hopeful this gadget will have a positive impact on the meta."

Frag Grenade

  • Reduce range to 3.6 meters
  • Change damage curve

Note: The lethal damage range remains nearly the same, the difference is mostly unnoticeable during a match. We are hoping to encourage precision use of grenades or for the player to change to a more precise gadget to deal with defenders’ utility if needed.

Hard Breach Charge

  • Reduce activation time to 4s (from 5)
